Navigating Hypermedia
This is an isolated wiki that details the conceptual precursors of hypertext to look beyond the idea that hypermedia is a recent invention. Hyperlinking is a format of thinking rather than a technology. It is a nonlinear network of nodes and connective channels that mirrors the way our brain uses loose associations to form strings of thought. The prefix hyper- typically means excess, over, or above. In the context of hypertext and hyperspace in theoretical physics, it means something contained within another. The hyperspace of a wormhole holds a portal from one dimension to another so that an entity can seamlessly and immediately travel between. Hypertext can also be seen as a portal, where two distant points are brought closer and closer together to become one— the link.
